Kingdom of Bahrain Hosts the 12th Meeting of GCC Health Ministers

Manama: As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's chairmanship of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Bahrain hosted the 12th meeting of the Committee of Their Excellencies and Highnesses GCC Ministers of Health, with the participation of Their Excellencies and Highnesses the Ministers of Health of the GCC countries.According to Ministry of Health - Bahrain, H.E. Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen Gulf health cooperation and integration, and developing mechanisms for coordination and the exchange of expertise and information among GCC countries. These efforts support the readiness of health systems, the sustainability of services, and the security of supply chains, while enhancing their ability to respond to rapidly evolving health challenges.She also addressed current regional security developments and their implications for the countries of the region, expressing the Kingdom of Bahrain's condemnation of the Iranian atta cks on Bahrain, GCC countries, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, describing them as violations of international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2817. She noted their impact on lives, infrastructure, transportation, and supply chains, including essential and medical supplies.Her Excellency further highlighted the implications of threats to the safety and security of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and their potential impact on energy security, international trade, food and medicine supplies, and humanitarian assistance. She stressed the importance of strengthening joint Gulf preparedness and coordination and ensuring the continuity of supply chains and healthcare services.She also underscored the importance of continued GCC cooperation and integrated efforts across various health fields to keep pace with regional and international developments, enhance the efficiency and preparedness of health systems, and ensure the continuity of healthcare services for the healt h and safety of GCC citizens and residents.The meeting also discussed several agenda items, including following up on the implementation of Supreme Council decisions in the health sector, strategic reserves of food, medicines, and medical supplies, the GCC Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028), expatriate worker health screening, and other priority areas of joint Gulf health cooperation.
