Bahrain Hosts 89th GCC Health Ministers Meeting to Strengthen Joint Health Efforts

Manama: As part of Bahrain's presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Kingdom hosted the 89th meeting of the GCC Committee of Ministers of Health.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen joint Gulf health efforts and building on the cooperation and integration achieved among GCC countries in the health sector. She highlighted the need to support the development and sustainability of health systems and enhance their ability to keep pace with rapid changes and developments in healthcare.

Dr. Hassan discussed the role of the Gulf Health Council in translating strategic visions and directions into initiatives, projects, and programs that serve the health sector in GCC countries. She noted that the progress achieved in this field reflects the level of Gulf coordination and integration, as well as the shared commitment to enhancing the efficiency of health systems and the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.

Furthermore, the minister underscored the importance of continuing coordination, exchanging expertise, and integrating efforts across various health fields. This approach aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of health systems and advance joint Gulf health cooperation in line with the aspirations of GCC countries and their peoples.

The meeting addressed agenda items, including the strategic performance report on following up the implementation of the Gulf Health Council and Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention Strategy 2026-2030. Discussions also included updates to the internal regulations, their annexes, and the charters of the supervisory committees, as well as the budget and initiatives of the Gulf Health Council and Gulf Centre for Disease Prevention for 2027, and draft decisions submitted to the Council.
