Manama: The National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons held its remote regular meeting, chaired by Nibras Mohammed Talib, Chief Executive of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Chairman of the Committee. The Chief Executive emphasised the importance of building on national efforts to combat trafficking in persons, strengthening integration among relevant entities to support the effectiveness of the prevention and protection system, keeping pace with developments in combating trafficking in persons crimes, and developing mechanisms to address them.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Ministry of Interior has launched a National Research Competition on Combating Trafficking in Persons. This initiative aims to support specialised studies, develop national policies, and explore innovative solutions to address this crime. The Committee reviewed the status of decisions and recommendations issued at its previous meeting and the measures taken to implement them, contributing to greater integration of national efforts and coordination of roles among the relevant entities.
The Committee also reviewed its participation in several international forums and events related to combating trafficking in persons, and their contribution to exchanging expertise and experiences, strengthening cooperation and partnerships, and keeping pace with international developments and practices in this field. Furthermore, the Committee examined the latest preparations by the Kingdom to host the seventh edition of the Government Forum to Combat Trafficking in Persons in the Middle East. Discussions included aspects related to organising the forum, enhancing its role as a regional platform for exchanging expertise and successful practices, and developing cooperation and coordination between countries in the region in combating trafficking in persons.
