Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the International Human Rights Committee, affirmed that the national press is a cornerstone of Bahrain's comprehensive development, playing an important role in serving the nation, safeguarding its security and stability, raising public awareness, and highlighting its achievements, with the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, Dr. Al Zayani praised His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for patronizing the 10th edition of the Prime Minister's Award for Journalism, describing it as a distinguished recognition and pioneering initiative that reflects the leadership's support for freedom of opinion and expression and promotes excellence, creativity, and national responsibility in journalism.The Foreign Minister congratulated the win ners, commending their outstanding journalistic work and professionalism and wishing them continued success, as well as further progress and excellence for Bahrain's media institutions.He also expressed Bahrain's pride in the professionalism and patriotic commitment demonstrated by the national press and responsible media in confronting the unjustified Iranian attacks against Bahrain and countries in the region, countering misinformation, presenting facts responsibly, strengthening national cohesion, and supporting efforts to safeguard Bahrain's security, sovereignty, stability, and vital infrastructure.Dr. Al Zayani emphasized that the national press and responsible media are key partners of Bahraini diplomacy in communicating Bahrain's balanced positions based on respect for international law and support for international peace and security, particularly during Bahrain's non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for 2026-2027 and its current presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Counc il.He further underscored the importance of continued cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Information, the National Communication Centre, the Bahrain Journalists Association, and media institutions to strengthen Bahrain's positive regional and international standing and highlight its values of moderation, openness, coexistence, tolerance, respect for human rights, and commitment to international peace and security.
