Brussels: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held a telephone call with Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the call focused on the latest preparations for the 2nd summit between the Leaders of the GCC states and the Leaders of the EU member states. The discussions also involved reviewing the progress made in implementing the outcomes of the 1st GCC-EU Summit and the mechanisms designed for their execution, with an aim to strengthen strategic relations between the GCC and the EU.
Both parties expressed optimism about the upcoming 2nd GCC-EU Summit, recognizing it as an important strategic milestone in enhancing the partnership between the GCC and the EU. They underscored the significance of continuing collaborative efforts and building on the achievements and initiatives since the 1st summit to reinforce cooperation in key priority areas.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi and Kallas stressed that these cooperative efforts are indicative of the deep historical ties between the GCC and the EU. They emphasized that such initiatives are pivotal in fostering development and prosperity for their populations while contributing to security, stability, and peace on both regional and international levels.
