Manama: Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, met with Dr. Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of the Bahrain Smart City Society (BSCS), and members of the society. Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, attended the meeting.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasised the ministry's commitment to further enhancing cooperation and coordination with civil society organisations and specialised entities. The aim is to support the exchange of expertise and ideas and contribute to the development of initiatives and projects that bolster municipal and agricultural services.
Minister Al Mubarak congratulated Dr. Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla on her appointment as Chairwoman of the BSCS, expressing his best wishes for her and the newly elected Board of Directors in their future responsibilities.
The meeting also reviewed topics of mutual interest and explored opportunities for collaboration between the ministry and the society in innovation, smart city applications, and modern technologies. These efforts are aimed at enhancing service efficiency and supporting sustainable development goals.
Dr. Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla affirmed the BSCS's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the ministry. She highlighted the importance of developing an effective partnership that supports the implementation of quality initiatives and the exchange of expertise, in alignment with Bahrain's smart transformation and development efforts.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Chairwoman and members of the society toured the historic Manama Municipality building, showcasing Bahrain's municipal heritage through its distinctive architecture. They also visited the municipal exhibition, which documents the history of municipal work in the Kingdom and highlights key achievements and developments in the municipal sector over the past decades.
