Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), visited the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre to review its operations, healthcare and rehabilitation services, and the readiness of its facilities and equipment.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health; Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Government Hospitals; and Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, accompanied the Chairman during the visit.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah emphasized that providing healthcare and rehabilitation services for groups requiring continuous care, particularly older adults, remains a priority within Bahrain's ongoing efforts to develop the healthcare sector. He commended the centre's services, noting that they reflect the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing the quality of healthcare and delivering services that meet beneficiaries' expectations in line with advanced standards.
The Health Minister highlighted the Muharraq Specialised Healthcare Centre's significant role as an important addition to Bahrain's healthcare system. She noted that the centre reflects the Kingdom's continued progress in developing healthcare services by supporting continuity of care and enhancing the efficiency and quality of healthcare services, in line with Bahrain's vision for a more integrated and sustainable healthcare system.
During the visit, the delegation reviewed the services provided by the centre, which specialises in long-term healthcare and rehabilitation. It provides integrated services for older adults and patients requiring continuous care and rehabilitation, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, occupational therapy, laboratory, radiology and pharmacy services, as well as specialised clinics, within an integrated treatment environment aligned with international best practices.
The visit also included a tour of the centre's departments, where the delegation reviewed the mechanisms for delivering healthcare and rehabilitation services and was briefed on the treatment programmes designed to meet the needs of groups requiring specialised and sustainable care.
