Manama: As part of its vision to integrate heritage assets into the city's urban landscape, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) continues to make progress on the Historic Muharraq City development project, highlighting the distinctive architectural character of historic buildings of significant heritage value while incorporating creativity and innovation into the development process.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the authority also continues to directly supervise the restoration of historic buildings across the city, coordinating with relevant government entities to ensure restoration and conservation works are carried out in accordance with internationally recognised standards and practices, using appropriate authentic materials that preserve the buildings' historical value.
BACA is also continuing the required studies under the Muharraq Vital Streets Development Project to rehabilitate and upgrade the fa§ades of buildings overlooking Shaikh Hamad Avenue and the extension of Al Tujjar Avenue and Bu Maher Street.
The project aims to enhance the area's urban appeal and create architectural harmony that reflects the city's cultural and historical heritage. It also seeks to improve the visual and environmental experience for pedestrians and visitors, reinforcing Muharraq's heritage identity and strengthening its position as a distinctive historical and tourism destination.
