According to Bahrain News Agency, the Argentina captain opened the scoring in the 38th minute before adding a second goal in stoppage time (90+5) to lead his side to a second consecutive victory in the tournament. The win moved Argentina to six points at the top of the group and secured qualification for the Round of 32. Austria remains on three points in second place.
The second round of Group J will conclude later with Jordan facing Algeria. Both sides are seeking their first points of the tournament after Jordan lost 3-1 to Austria and Algeria were beaten 3-0 by Argentina in the opening round.
