Speaker Participates in 39th AIPU Conference

Manama: Bahrain's parliamentary division delegation, led by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the parliamentary division, participated in the remote 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU). The event was chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, President of the AIPU and Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference reviewed the report of the AIPU General Secretariat on the implementation of decisions adopted during the 38th AIPU Conference. Participants engaged in discussions on the Executive Committee's recommendations concerning the nomination of an Arab candidate for the position of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The forum emphasized the importance of continued parliamentary coordination and consultation, with a focus on strengthening Arab representation in international forums and unifying positions on issues of common interest.

The conference also deliberated on the Executive Committee's recommendations on various matters, including the regulations governing the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award. Additionally, the draft AIPU work programme and budget for 2026 were key topics of discussion, highlighting the ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration among Arab parliamentary bodies.
