SCIA Holds 35th Session of Fifth Term in Bahrain

Manama: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) convened its 35th session of the fifth term, with Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa presiding as the President of the SCIA. The session included significant discussions and decisions impacting the Kingdom of Bahrain and the broader Arab and Islamic nations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Council extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with the government and people of Bahrain, on the occasion of the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadhan. The Council highlighted the King's recent address, which called for adherence to the principles of true religion, ethics, and tolerance, promoting a spirit of compassion and unity among different faiths within the nation.

The Council also praised the meeting held by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa with SCIA members and religious scholars. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad emphasized the importance of moderation and tolerance in reinforcing Islamic values that enhance societal awareness and national unity during Ramadhan. The Council noted the Crown Prince's commitment to maintaining national solidarity and rejecting divisive attempts within society.

In addition to domestic issues, the SCIA condemned recent attacks by the Islamic Republic of Iran directed against Bahrain and other nations, including the Gulf Cooperation Council states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. These attacks targeted civilian areas and infrastructure, resulting in casualties and injuries. The Council expressed condolences to the victims and praised the swift response of Bahrain's security forces and medical teams, as well as the courage of the Bahrain Defence Force in confronting these threats.

The Council launched the national campaign "Bahrain is Well. Because You Are Its People," reflecting the solidarity and social responsibility of Bahrain's citizens and residents in supporting national security efforts. The meeting also reviewed the successful conclusion of the ninth edition of the Tafsir Councils programme, which focused on the interpretation of specific Quranic Surahs, engaging over 257 students and teachers.

The session concluded with the Council reviewing various documents and making necessary decisions to address the matters discussed. The SCIA remains committed to promoting peace, security, and religious understanding within the Kingdom of Bahrain.
