Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 530 inspection campaigns and visits from December 28, 2025, to January 3. These efforts resulted in the detention of 9 violating and irregular workers, while 97 violators were deported.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits led to the identification of several violations related to the provisions of various regulating laws, particularly the LMRA and Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Legal measures were taken concerning the observed violations.
The LMRA conducted 509 inspection visits across various shops in all governorates, complemented by 21 joint inspection campaigns. These included 6 campaigns in the Capital Governorate, 5 in the Muharraq Governorate, 3 in the Northern Governorate, and 7 in the Southern Governorate.
Several government entities participated in these campaigns, including the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Governorate's respective Police Directorate, the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science, the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, and the General Directorate of Civil Defense. Additionally, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), the National Bureau for Revenue (NBR), and the Social Insurance Organization (SIO) were involved.
The LMRA affirmed its commitment to continuing joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates. The aim is to address any violations or practices that could negatively impact the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm the Kingdom's economic and social security.
The LMRA also renewed its call for public support in addressing illegal labour practices. It encouraged members of society to report violations via the electronic form on the authority's website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the authority's call centre at 17506055, or through the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
