Manama: Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Undersecretary for Land Transport and Postal Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, met with the Transport and Logistics Services Committee at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) to discuss cooperation in regulating the land transport and trucking sector. The discussions focused on enhancing compliance with applicable regulations and requirements and strengthening public-private sector partnership.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting reviewed mechanisms for organising truck distribution and developing work procedures to ensure smooth traffic flow and improve the efficiency of the land transport sector. The discussions also emphasized limiting the practice of public transport activities to duly licensed entities and companies, aiming to ensure fairness and regulate competition within the sector.
Both parties explored means to improve the handling of observations and violations related to heavy transport trucks. This approach is within a corrective and regulatory framework aimed at enhancing compliance and raising adherence to approved controls.
The discussions highlighted the importance of continued cooperation and ongoing coordination between concerned entities and the private sector. Efforts will focus on developing regulatory and legislative frameworks that support the transport and logistics sector, enhance its sustainability, support its role in the national economy's development, and achieve integration among all stakeholders.
