Muharraq Nights Festival Enriches Cultural Landscape with Diverse Programmes

Muharraq: The fourth edition of the Muharraq Nights festival continues to deliver a programme of cultural, creative, and interactive activities across the historic city of Muharraq, extending over 3.5 kilometres along the Pearling Path, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the festival features maritime activities departing from Bu Maher Fort Harbour aboard the Kanoo 2 Jalboot, including oyster opening and fishing experiences that reflect Muharraq's historical connection to the sea and pearl diving heritage.

The programme includes creative workshops organised by Afaq Creative, such as T-shirt design inspired by Muharraq, paper art workshops focusing on traditional Bahraini doors supervised by Eman Hussain Ali, a visual arts workshop with Bashayer Al Mahdi, and a content creation and storytelling workshop with Hajar Abdulaziz addressing visual and digital production.

Dialogue sessions include a professional exchange for creative enterprises presented by Shaikha Al Abbasi of Solid Design Studio, while Allayali Studio is offering portrait photography sessions with photographer Mohammed Al Ammadi. Artology workshops are also part of the programme, covering porcelain plate decoration and the production of lampshades and candles in collaboration with Ivory Lab.

The Amanah Creative is contributing weekly sessions focused on national identity and cultural memory, addressing traditional attire, Bahraini cuisine, Bahraini gold, and Fijri music, with participation from specialists across various fields. Kalimat House is participating for the first time through discussion groups combining literature, art, design, photography, and thought, presenting Muharraq's cultural presence through contemporary perspectives.

Additional activities include crafts and workshops by Artly and Calmmess, events by McKinney Games, cultural evenings featuring the launch of Saudi Modern: Jeddah in Transition (1938-1964), a discussion of Shreena as part of the 'Pages from Muharraq' programme, activities by Rashid Al Zayani Charity Foundation, and workshops hosted by Bait Al Naqda.

The programme also includes initiatives by Sophia Bookstore, live activities at the art station combining heritage with contemporary creativity, lectures organised by the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, artistic activities by Taa Youth, and events by Bahrain Sports Club highlighting its historical role in the national sports scene.

Muharraq Nights continues until December 30. Activities are held from Sunday to Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, and from Thursday to Saturday from 5:00 pm to midnight.
