HH Shaikh Khalid Inaugurates World Aquatics Centre of Excellence in Bahrain

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), inaugurated the World Aquatics Centre of Excellence at Bahrain Polytechnic. Husain Al Musallam, World Aquatics President, also attended the event.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the centre is a collaborative initiative between World Aquatics and the Bahrain Olympic Committee, with support from GFH Group. The project aims to establish Bahrain as a regional hub for aquatic sports by providing world-class facilities for training, education, and athlete development.

HH Shaikh Khalid expressed that the project marks a significant advancement in Bahrain's sports infrastructure, aiming to nurture young talent. He noted that the centre aligns with the Kingdom's vision of leadership in both regional and international sport.

Al Musallam emphasized the partnership as an exemplary model of collaboration between sports institutions and the private sector. He pointed out that the initiative is a crucial step in broadening the global reach of aquatic disciplines.

During his visit, HH Shaikh Khalid toured the new facilities, which include an Olympic pool, training halls, and classrooms. He commended the centre's advanced design and technical standards, showcasing its potential to elevate Bahrain's standing in aquatic sports.
