Woman and Child Affairs Committee Deputy Head Participates in Bahrain-EU Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief

Brussels: Leena Habib Kassim, Deputy Head of the Woman and Child Affairs Committee at the Shura Council, participated in the third Bahrain-EU Conference on Freedom of Religion and Belief in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Kassim emphasized that the Kingdom of Bahrain represents a leading model in promoting freedom of religion and belief, guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

She highlighted Bahrain's constitutional and legal framework that ensures freedom of belief and integrates diversity as a central feature of its national identity. This approach is evident in Bahraini society, where mosques, churches, temples, and a synagogue coexist harmoniously.

Kassim also underscored the role of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance as an international platform promoting interfaith dialogue and combating hate speech and extremism.

She noted that the Kingdom continues to collaborate with international partners to develop mechanisms that promote freedom of religion and cultural diversity, contributing to global efforts on peaceful coexistence. Kassim added that the participation of Shura Council members in international forums reflects Bahrain's commitment to parliamentary diplomacy and to presenting its experience in tolerance and coexistence on the international stage.
