BSA Engages in ITU’s AI and Climate Innovation Sessions

Manama: Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency (BSA), participated in the AI for Climate Innovation Factory sessions 2025 organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in partnership with more than fifty international organizations.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative comprised two sessions where start-ups from various countries presented innovative solutions using artificial intelligence to address environmental and climate challenges. These sessions saw the participation of prominent international experts and assessors.

Dr. Al Aseeri noted that the initiative offered an opportunity to review the latest developments in using AI to confront climate challenges, aligning with BSA's efforts to harness advanced space technologies for environmental sustainability. He emphasized the initiative's direct link to space technologies, highlighting the use of satellite data in AI applications for environmental monitoring, the development of solutions for tracking emissions and climate changes using space techniques, and the use of satellite imagery in training AI models to predict environmental shifts.

Dr. Al Aseeri further explained that participation in the initiative adds value to the Agency's team by aiding in the planning of future initiatives. This includes building strategic partnerships with global start-ups specializing in climate technologies and enhancing the national team's capabilities in AI applications for space data. He also highlighted BSA's aim to strengthen its environmental and climate monitoring capacities using advanced technologies to contribute to Bahrain's objectives in environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.

The "AI Innovation Factory for Climate 2025" initiative aims to identify and support AI-based solutions to environmental and sustainability challenges and promote inclusivity by providing support to various countries.
