Manama: Bahrain's parliamentary delegation, led by Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, Member of the Shura Council, participated in a workshop on Parliamentary Mediation during the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Switzerland. The delegation highlighted Bahrain's approach to parliamentary diplomacy and political mediation under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation emphasized the effectiveness of parliamentary mediation in fostering peace and ensuring social and political stability. They noted that parliaments have a critical role in international efforts to enhance understanding and trust among people and stakeholders. The delegation also underlined Bahrain's contributions to peace initiatives, advocating against violence and promoting a culture of coexistence and tolerance.
The delegation stressed the need for legislative frameworks that support preventive parliamentary mediation, aligned with human security concepts, to protect societies from division. They expressed full support for the IPU's efforts to strengthen mediation tools, recognizing parliamentarians as natural mediators who complement their legislative, oversight, and humanitarian duties.
