Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) announced the implementation of 1,642 inspection campaigns and visits during the period of October 12-18, leading to the detention of 18 violating and irregular workers, while 93 violators were deported.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the inspection campaigns and visits also resulted in monitoring several violations related to the provisions of several regulating laws, particularly targeting the LMRA and Residency Laws in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Legal measures were taken regarding the observed violations.
The Authority highlighted that 1,613 inspection visits were conducted on various shops across all governorates, along with 29 joint inspection campaigns: 14 in the Capital Governorate, 7 in the Muharraq Governorate, 3 in the Northern Governorate, and 5 in the Southern Governorate.
Government entities participating in the campaigns included the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the Governorate's respective Police Directorate, the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science, and the Coast Guard Command, as well as the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), the Social Insurance Organisation, and the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns throughout the Kingdom, aiming to address violations or practices that could negatively impact the stability and competitiveness of the labour market or harm the economic and social security of the Kingdom.
The LMRA reiterated its appeal to all members of society to support the efforts of government agencies in combating illegal labour practices. It encouraged reporting violations via the electronic form on the authority's website www.lmra.gov.bh, by calling the authority's call centre on 17506055, or through the government's Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
