According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement is backed by the Canadian government with a funding of JD 11 million. The initiative aims to bolster energy efficiency and renewable energy efforts in the southern Jordan Valley.

The project, planned for a five-year implementation period, emphasizes the integration of energy, water, and food sectors (NEXUS) to promote sustainable and inclusive development in the region. It is anticipated to benefit the local economy and enhance the quality of life for nearby communities.

The second phase of this initiative involves activities such as increasing public awareness on renewable energy and energy efficiency. Additionally, it includes the introduction of practical solutions across government and service facilities, which encompasses setting up an electric vehicle charging station, performing energy audits for government buildings in the southern Jordan Valley, and improving energy efficiency in three public schools and health centers.
