2nd Bahrain Diabetes and Obesity Conference Set to Address Health Challenges

Bahrain: Bahrain is set to host the second Bahrain Diabetes and Obesity Conference (BDOC) on October 1-2, 2026. The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who is the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. The conference is organized in cooperation with Education Plus.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference will convene leading experts from local, regional, and international spheres to discuss advancements in diabetes and obesity management. The focus will be on prevention strategies and promoting healthy lifestyles.

In preparation for the conference, the Bahrain Diabetes Society and Education Plus have formalized an agreement to organize the event. The agreement was signed by Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health and Chairman of the Bahrain Diabetes Society, alongside Dr. Amin Abdullah, General Manager of Education Plus.

Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah emphasized that the conference underscores Bahrain's commitment to addressing non-communicable diseases through scientific collaboration and awareness initiatives. He highlighted the importance of partnerships across health and academic sectors to promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen preventive healthcare, particularly among the youth.

Dr. Amin noted that the success of the inaugural conference has set the stage for an enhanced second edition, which will feature enriched scientific content and greater participation from local, regional, and international stakeholders.
