(BNA): As many as 107 fund collection permits have been issued to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) during the first half of this year, Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has unveiled.
He said that the ongoing cooperation between the Labour and Social Development Ministry and the government departments in charge of issuing fund-raising permits for civil society organisations and NGOs has led to ensuring easy procedures while taking into account the regulatory and security aspects.
Humandan indicated that the charitable work has been facilitated thanks to the government’s directives in this regard, resulting in the increase of approved requests by 94%.
He added that many factors have contributed to easing permit issuance procedures, including mainly the training of NGOs’ staff on financial management, and their commitment to fund raising laws and regulations, in addition to their keenness to cope with the latest technological developments, especially regarding e-payments.
