Manama, Sept. 17 (BNA): Municipal councils are key pillars of the development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, said Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak.
The minister made the statement as he inspected voter lists at the Southern Municipality headquarters in Riffa, accompanied by Legislation and Legal Opinion Chairman, Elections Executive Director Nawaf Abdulla Hamza, and other officials.
The ministry has formed teams from each municipality to facilitate electoral campaigning procedures, inform candidates, obtain licenses for electoral tents, and provide the necessary support before the election date
A booklet including the instructions and regulations governing the electoral process will be distributed to the candidates, said the minister, noting the appointment of Southern Municipality director-general Asem Abdullatif Abdulla as ministry’s coordinator with the Elections Executive Committee.
The ministry has received the voter lists which have been electronically displayed in three municipality centers: Muharraq Municipality (Busaiteen), Northern Region Municipality (A’ali), and Southern Region Municipality (Riffa Branch).
The voter lists for the municipal elections are also available on the official website of the elections www.vote .bh, itand will also be shown in municipality centers on September 15-21, from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Elections Executive Director Nawaf Abdulla Hamza said that displaying the voter lists in the municipalities’ headquarters reflects the role of the municipal councils in light of the development process led by HM the King and the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
“Displaying the lists also reflects efforts to facilitate the procedures for eligible voters to cast their ballots in the municipal polls”, he added.
