Manama: Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, CEO of the Urban Planning and Development Authority (UPDA), conducted a field visit to the "Amwaj Avenue" project, developed by Naseej. The project is among the first to be implemented under Ministerial Decision (788) of 2024, which concerns infrastructure works in subdivision master plans. He reviewed the progress of infrastructure implementation and the project's development stages.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Khayyat highlighted the UPDA's commitment to following up on infrastructure projects in line with the highest approved standards. He noted the importance of continued cooperation between the public and private sectors in supporting Bahrain's urban development progress, contributing to sustainable development goals and strengthening integration in the implementation of projects that meet present needs and align with future aspirations.
He underlined the importance of adhering to technical requirements to ensure the sustainable readiness of master plans, supporting urban development efforts and creating an integrated urban environment that meets the expectations of citizens and investors. He explained that construction in any approved subdivision begins only after infrastructure work is fully completed in accordance with approved standards. He added that Ministerial Decision (788) of 2024 requires infrastructure implementation to follow the requirements and standards of the relevant authorities, ensuring an urban environment with integrated services that align with citizens' expectations for modern and sustainable housing.
Al Khayyat inspected the project site at the entrance of Amwaj Islands and reviewed the urban master plans and infrastructure works to be carried out by the company. They also visited the "Nasayem Arad" project, where the latest updates were reviewed following the announcement that infrastructure works had been completed at 100%.
Amin Al Arrayed, Chief Executive of Naseej, valued the cooperation and support provided by UPDA, noting that it helped accelerate progress in Amwaj Avenue and other company projects. He expressed appreciation for the role of government entities in approving master plans and issuing permits, highlighting that this partnership advances real estate investment and supports sustainable urban development. He added that implementing infrastructure works directly by the developer speeds up project readiness through early completion of essential networks and enhances market value by enabling faster transition to active use. He noted that the visit reflects UPDA's commitment to activating the mechanism for infrastructure implementation in subdivision master plans and strengthening confidence in the real estate market.
The Amwaj Avenue project covers an area of 125,000 square metres and includes residential and mixed-use investment plots, along with an integrated network of roads and infrastructure designed to meet future project needs. The subdivision masterplan has been approved, and agreements for infrastructure implementation have been signed between the company and the relevant service authorities. A quantity survey consultant has also been appointed in preparation for issuing the tender for implementation works, marking a concrete step towards progressing with the project in line with approved specifications.
