Abu Dhabi: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and the UAE Research Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) have finalized preparations for the 7th International Rain Enhancement Forum, scheduled for 28 to 30 January in Abu Dhabi. The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court. His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes' Affairs, will also be present.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Alya Al Mazrouei, Director of UAEREP and Director of Research and Weather Enhancement Department at NCM, highlighted the UAE's commitment to innovation and international collaboration to address water challenges. This effort reinforces the UAE's role as a global hub for excellence in weather and rain enhancement sciences.
The forum is set to provide a platform for discussing the latest advancements in rain enhancement research, focusing on water scarcity challenges. It will also enable scientists and experts to showcase their achievements in rain enhancement techniques and support global water security efforts.
This year's forum marks the 10th anniversary of UAEREP and will focus on five key areas: collaboration, innovation, capacity building, artificial intelligence, and applied research. Additional topics will include discussions on water security at regional and global levels, the development of new cloud seeding materials, the use of unmanned aerial systems in weather modification research, and new methods for cloud formation and localized climate interventions.
