Geneva: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, held a series of bilateral meetings with ministers, senior officials, and representatives of international organisations on the sidelines of Geneva Digital Week.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the events included the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, the WSIS+20 High-Level Event, and the AI for Good Global Summit. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed engaged with Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and officials from multiple countries and organizations including the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Ireland, Estonia, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Gabon, the United States, South Africa, Malaysia, the Digital Cooperation Organisation, and Smart Africa.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in areas such as digital transformation, telecommunications, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and capacity building. The meetings also aimed at exchanging expertise and best practices for developing digital policies to bolster sustainable development and the digital economy.
Moreover, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted Bahrain's significant achievements in digital transformation and telecommunications infrastructure. He emphasized the Kingdom's initiatives in adopting emerging technologies and creating a regulatory and legislative environment that fosters innovation and investment. These efforts are designed to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence applications and improve Bahrain's competitiveness on both regional and international stages.
