Manama: The Tender Board announced that it sent 575,969 electronic notifications to suppliers and contractors through the electronic tendering system over the past year, reflecting the Board's keenness to take the initiative in direct communication with suppliers to enhance transparency, safeguard the rights of suppliers and contractors, increase participation in government tenders and auctions, and strengthen competitiveness principles in the public sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the notifications included 524,074 alerts related to newly launched tenders, aimed at informing suppliers and contractors of available opportunities and enhancing competitive engagement. A further 44,768 notifications were sent as reminders to submit bids within the specified deadlines, contributing to higher levels of compliance and ensuring smooth workflow.
In addition, 4,689 notifications were issued following the opening of bids, in support of transparency and procedural follow-up, alongside 2,438 notifications sent after the completion of bid evaluation processes, ensuring clarity and credibility of evaluation results for all suppliers and contractors.
Jamal Abdulaziz Al Alawi, Secretary General of the Tender Board, said that the procedures adopted for sending electronic notifications contribute to reinforcing the commitment of procuring entities to complete bid evaluations and submit recommendations within the approved timeframes. He noted that this positively reflects the smooth flow of procedures across all stages of government tenders and auctions, from announcement to award.
Al Alawi added that these initiatives represent a fundamental pillar in enhancing the efficiency of the government tendering and auction system by raising compliance levels, accelerating the work cycle, and providing accurate performance indicators that enable close monitoring of procedures and help prevent delays. He noted that this supports the national direction towards developing digital government services and embedding transparency principles.
The Secretary General concluded by emphasizing that the Board will continue implementing its development initiatives aimed at modernizing the documentary cycle and aligning it with international best practices, in a manner that contributes to improving service quality and promotes a culture of operational excellence in government procurement and auctions.
The Tender Board also called on all suppliers and contractors to update their data and commercial activities on the electronic tendering and auction system to ensure receipt of notifications related to announced tenders and auctions in line with their respective fields and activities, as part of the Board's ongoing commitment to developing governance and management of government procurement and auctions efficiently and effectively.
