Sakhir: The first round of the Khalid bin Hamad Golden Generation Cycling League for the 2025-2026 sports season got underway on Friday morning at the Nasser bin Hamad Cycling Track in Sakhir, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Cycling Association.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the opening round featured the participation of 40 riders from the under-19 youth category and the under-17 junior category. The races witnessed strong competition under winter conditions, which reflected the promising technical level of the cyclists and drew notable spectator interest.
In the youth individual race over a distance of 45 km, Hassan Aqeel of the Bahrain Giant team secured first place with a time of 1:06:27. He was closely followed by Abdulaziz Al Hamri of Elite Academy in second place at 1:06:28, and Humood Al Farhan, also of Elite Academy, in third place at 1:06:29.
The juniors' individual race over 30 km saw Mohammed Ali Juma of Elite Academy claim first place with a time of 1:08:56. Sayed Abdullah Ali of Bahrain Giant finished in second place at 1:09:00, while Isa Al Khasham of Elite Academy took third at 1:09:01.
At the team level, Elite Academy topped the youth category standings with 10 points, with MMM Academy in second place with six points. Elite Academy also led the juniors' category with 10 points, while Bahrain Giant ranked second with six points.
The competitions were officiated by a refereeing panel comprising Sayed Murtadha, Hussain Mansoor, and Jamal Shaheen, supported by referee Adel Marhoon and a number of young officials. Organisational efforts were carried out in coordination with board members, team managers, and coaches, as well as traffic police, community police, and ambulance teams, contributing to the smooth conduct of the round.
