Manama: Bahrain's parliamentary division delegation, led by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the parliamentary division, participated in the remote 39th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU), under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, President of the AIPU and Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the conference reviewed the report of the AIPU General Secretariat on the implementation of decisions adopted during the 38th AIPU Conference. Participants discussed the Executive Committee's recommendations regarding the nomination of an Arab candidate for the position of President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), while emphasising continued parliamentary coordination and consultation, strengthening Arab representation in international forums, and unifying positions on issues of common interest.
The conference also discussed the Executive Committee's recommendations on several matters, including the regulations governing the Arab Parliamentary Excellence Award and the draft AIPU work programme and budget for 2026.
