Speaker Marks Bahraini Diplomatic Day with Affirmation of Diplomatic Excellence

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, affirmed that Bahraini diplomacy has established an effective and influential model in carrying out its noble mission through the implementation of the Kingdom’s foreign policy, supporting national progress and development. He highlighted Bahrain’s distinguished cooperation with the international community in promoting peaceful solutions, strengthening dialogue, and advancing diplomatic work along a developmental path guided by the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker commended the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for supporting diplomatic work, achieving national accomplishments, and promoting teamwork under the Team Bahrain approach, which serves the supreme interests of the nation and safeguards the interests of its citizens.

Marking Bahraini Diplomatic Day, the Speaker congratulated Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as heads and members of diplomatic missions and all staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He commended their continued efforts in presenting the Kingdom’s distinguished image and delivering a high standard of diplomatic performance through the implementation of the royal vision and the pillars of Bahrain’s foreign policy, which are based on consolidating peace, supporting sustainable development, and respecting human rights.

Al Musallam also underlined parliamentary support for Bahrain’s non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term. He expressed great pride as the Kingdom officially began its two-year tenure as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, for the second time in nearly three decades, reflecting its firm commitment to the presence of a balanced and wise voice at the heart of international decision-making.

He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made significant progress in its diplomatic, political, administrative, and technical work, particularly in expanding diplomatic and economic cooperation with countries. He noted that diplomatic efforts support Bahrain Vision 2030 through joint committees and the signing of agreements, memoranda of understanding, and cooperation programmes, within a balanced foreign policy that serves the Kingdom’s national interests and economic growth.

The Speaker expressed full confidence in Team Bahrain’s diplomatic corps in presenting a distinguished image of the Kingdom through Bahrain’s presidency of the 46th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council, its presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, and its presidency of the United Nations Security Council in April 2026.

He also highlighted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ commitment to upholding the principle of the “state as a protector” of its citizens under all circumstances, citing the intensive efforts made to evacuate citizens from countries affected by crises and facilitate their safe return. He noted the ministry’s continued follow-up on the affairs of Bahraini citizens, students, and tourists abroad, wishing the ministry continued success in serving the nation and its citizens.
