Speaker Engages with Pakistani Senate Chairman at IPU Assembly


Tashkent: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Head of Bahrain’s Parliamentary Delegation, met with Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, on the sidelines of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker commended the deep-rooted and steadily growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He highlighted the commitment of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency President Asif Ali Zardari to advancing these longstanding ties, underscoring the importance both countries place on strengthening cooperation.



Al Musallam also noted the close parliamentary collaboration between Bahrain and Pakistan, emphasizing the continued coordination of positions and exchange of views in Asian and international parliamentary forums. This collaboration aims to reinforce bilateral relations to serve the shared interests of both nations and peoples.



On his part, Gillani praised the strong historical ties between the two countries and the ongoing growth in various vital sectors. He expressed appreciation for Bahrain’s commitment to upholding human rights and promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance, as well as its leading international initiatives in this regard.



He affirmed the keenness of the Pakistani Senate and National Assembly to further expand parliamentary cooperation, contributing to the prosperity of both countries. He also recalled the success of Bahrain’s hosting of the 146th IPU Assembly, which allowed international parliamentary delegations to witness the Kingdom’s development and its model of peaceful coexistence and cultural openness.
