Speaker Condemns Houthi Attack on Civilian Targets in Najran

Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, condemned the terrorist attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia using indiscriminate projectiles that targeted civilian facilities and infrastructure in Najran, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, injuring a number of civilians.

According to Bahrain News Agency, in a cable sent to Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, Al Musallam affirmed the Council of Representatives' continued coordination with its Saudi counterpart to present a unified position on Iranian terrorist attacks at regional and international parliamentary forums and enhance parliamentary diplomacy.

The Speaker stated that the escalation constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law and represents an attempt to undermine the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and the region.

Al Musallam reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, citizens, and civilian infrastructure, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The Speaker emphasized that the security of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia is indivisible, and that any attack on Saudi Arabia's security is an attack on Bahrain and all GCC member states. He noted that the longstanding relations between the two Kingdoms, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the directives and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, continue to reinforce their shared security and common destiny.

Al Musallam urged the international community to adopt a firm stance to condemn the Houthi militia, hold it accountable, and cut off its sources of funding and arms to help protect civilians and preserve regional security and stability.

The Speaker also reaffirmed Bahrain's appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the agreed references, while preserving Yemen's unity and sovereignty and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for security, stability, and prosperity.
