Manama: Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, commended the ratification by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Press and Digital Media Law.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Speaker said the law reflects His Majesty's vision and aspirations for modern and progressive media legislation consistent with the development of national journalism. He highlighted that the law was the outcome of productive discussions between the legislative and executive authorities. He expressed appreciation for the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness' commitment to enhancing cooperation in developing Bahraini journalism.
Al Musallam affirmed that the legislative authority ensured that the Press and Digital Media Law, as envisioned by His Majesty the King, is a modern and enlightened law that supports the advancement of journalism and media. It safeguards the rights of journalists and media professionals and contributes to the fulfilment of their mission with professionalism and responsibility. The law reflects the principles of the National Action Charter, the Constitution of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the nation's steadfast values.
The Speaker also congratulated Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al Noaimi, Minister of Information; Isa Al Shaiji, Chairman of the Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA); the editors-in-chief of newspapers and media institutions; and all professionals working in journalism and digital media on this legislative achievement. He commended their national role in enlightening public opinion, highlighting Bahrain's civilisational achievements, and actively contributing to the realisation of the Kingdom's national aspirations and objectives.
