Social Development Minister Emphasizes Volunteerism’s Impact on Community Engagement

Manama: Osama bin Saleh Al Alawi, Minister of Social Development, emphasized the pivotal role that volunteerism plays in strengthening community engagement and building a society capable of sustained contribution. He noted the ministry's commitment to supporting this role by enhancing the operating environment for civil society organizations and ensuring the continuity of voluntary programs and initiatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Kingdom of Bahrain marked International Volunteer Day, observed annually on December 5, by underscoring the significant role volunteers play in supporting social development. Minister Al Alawi highlighted the contributions of civil society organizations across various social, professional, and scientific fields, noting the extensive participation of volunteers in community initiatives. This, he said, reflects a growing awareness of the importance of volunteer work and its impact on society.

He further added that the collaboration among government entities, the private sector, and civil society has entrenched a strong culture of volunteerism in Bahrain, positioning the Kingdom as a regional and international exemplar. The minister reiterated the ministry's support for volunteer efforts that advance social development and foster a spirit of initiative and contribution.
