Shura Council Secretary General Advocates for AI Initiatives at International Meeting

Baku: Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, participated in the seventh meeting of the Association of Secretaries General of the Union of Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Al Abbasi highlighted the Council's experience and progress in integrating artificial intelligence technologies to enhance human resources and improve both parliamentary and administrative efficiency.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Abbasi proposed the establishment of an Islamic Parliamentary Observatory for AI within the Union of Parliaments of OIC Member States. This observatory aims to monitor legislative, regulatory, and ethical developments related to AI, prepare studies and reports, and provide a shared database of legislation and best practices. Additionally, it seeks to support capacity-building and facilitate the exchange of expertise among secretariats.
