Tehran: Dr. Jameela Mohamed Redha Al Salman, Chairperson of the Services Committee in the Shura Council and member of Bahrain's parliamentary delegation, participated in the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly's Standing Committee on Political Affairs, held in the Islamic Republic of Iran from December 3 to 6.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Salman stated that Bahrain's growing engagement with Asian partners and expansion of parliamentary diplomatic channels reflect the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She noted that Asian partnerships now form an important part of Bahrain's legislative work at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
Dr. Al Salman highlighted the leadership's commitment to strengthening Bahrain's presence in the Asian region, encouraging legislative institutions to exchange expertise and develop effective parliamentary diplomacy. These efforts aim to support deeper participation in regional issues and contribute to building a more coordinated Asian cooperation framework based on dialogue, mutual interests, and sustainable solutions.
She underscored the importance of promoting dialogue and reconciliation across Asia, describing it as central to the committee's mandate. Dr. Al Salman mentioned that the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, with its diverse membership, offers a platform to enhance understanding, advance cooperation and peace, and develop parliamentary tools to address current political challenges.
Additionally, she emphasized that regional peace and security are essential for development, stressing the need to prioritize peaceful approaches to conflicts, respect state sovereignty, and uphold international law. Dr. Al Salman expressed hope that the meeting would deliver outcomes aligned with the aspirations of Asian peoples.
