Manama: The Shura Council's Services Committee, chaired by Dr. Jameela Al Salman, emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, prioritises individuals with determination (persons with disabilities), ensuring their care, empowerment, and full integration as partners in national development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed annually on December 3, and celebrated this year under the theme "Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress," the committee commended Bahrain's advanced progress in healthcare, education inclusion, training, and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, reflecting the Kingdom's commitment to human rights.
The committee commended the Ministry of Social Development for improving rehabilitation services, accessibility, and assistive technologies that enhance independence and quality of life.
It emphasised the importance of community initiatives that promote inclusion and challenge stereotypes, noting that Bahrain has become a leading model for protecting the rights of persons with disabilities within a sustainable development vision.
The committee underscored the legislative authority's dedication to enacting and supporting laws that guarantee dignity, rights, and full societal integration for persons with disabilities, stressing the need to continue strengthening national efforts.
