Manama: The General Secretariat of the Shura Council welcomed a delegation of parliamentary assistants who support Members of Parliament (MPs). The delegation was provided with insights into the operations of Bahrain's legislative authority and the advancements in its legal and legislative framework, highlighting the Kingdom's ongoing national development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Fawzia Yousif Al Jeeb, Advisor to the Shura Chairman, extended the greetings of Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, and Kareema Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Council, to the visiting delegation. Dr. Al Jeeb underscored the significance of such visits in fostering the exchange of expertise and practical experience in providing administrative and technical support for legislative members. These visits contribute to enhancing work mechanisms and sharing institutional practices.
Dr. Al Jeeb further elaborated on the General Secretariat's role in offering technical, administrative, advisory, and digital support to Council members, which enhances legislative efficiency and quality. She mentioned that the General Secretariat has received recognition for its achievements in digital transformation, administrative development, and institutional improvement, evidencing the effectiveness of its performance and adherence to best practices.
Additionally, Dr. Al Jeeb stressed the active role of the Council's Gender Balance Committee in promoting a fair work environment based on national competencies and contributions, and in supporting initiatives that reflect the Council's commitment to gender balance as a staple in its operations.
The UK delegation examined the work of Bahrain's legislative authority, the Shura Council's competences, its committees, and the mechanisms of coordination and cooperation with the Council of Representatives. They also visited the Council's session hall. The delegation highlighted the importance of these visits in bolstering parliamentary cooperation, exchanging legislative expertise, strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and learning from Bahrain's democratic experience as a regional model.
