Manama: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Professor Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation and advancing parliamentary and legislative relations between Bahrain and Azerbaijan. Jamal Mohamed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, was also present at the meeting.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Chairman Al Saleh emphasized the longstanding ties between the two nations, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan. He welcomed Professor Gafarova's visit to Bahrain and her participation in the 16th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), held from January 24-28. The Chairman praised the progress in Bahrain-Azerbaijan relations, highlighting the signing of memoranda of understanding and joint agreements in several areas.
Chairman Al Saleh noted the promising opportunities for cooperation in health, environment, digital sectors, and tourism. He stressed Bahrain's commitment to strengthening ties with Azerbaijan by exchanging parliamentary and legislative experience. He also recognized Azerbaijan's progress across different sectors and its role in hosting parliamentary conferences at the Asian level.
Professor Gafarova expressed her dedication to enhancing cooperation and advancing relations between Bahrain and Azerbaijan. She acknowledged the support of His Majesty the King and President Aliyev in developing bilateral ties. She praised the efforts of the Shura Council in strengthening relations and emphasized the significance of mutual parliamentary visits for exchanging expertise. Professor Gafarova invited Chairman Al Saleh to visit Azerbaijan to further discussions on developing relations between the two countries.
