Manama: Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), commended the royal order designating 2026 as the "Year of Isa Al Kabeer" in honour of Bahrain's founder of the modern state and key figure in its institutional development.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Auditor General emphasised that this royal initiative reflects the significant interest of His Majesty the King in preserving the memory of the nation and commemorating those who contributed to building the country and consolidating its stability in various eras.
He pointed out that His Highness Isa Al Kabeer, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, left a national legacy and a remarkable record of achievements and honours that strengthened the political, economic, and cultural position of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed praised the economic, cultural, and service development projects underway in Muharraq, which have offered an environment for good governance to thrive during the reign of HH Isa Al Kabeer. These initiatives enhance awareness of the country's history and its great men, and the royal order of His Majesty the King of Bahrain aims to preserve the historical and cultural identity of Bahrain's buildings and cities, revive Isa Al Kabeer's Palace, and develop Muharraq.
He commended the continuous follow-up and guidance by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in preserving the historical and cultural identity of the ancient city.
