Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), visited the Clinical Classification and Health Records Group at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC).
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mariam Athbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, also attended the visit. Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah emphasized the need to strengthen the health information system and invest in training national professionals. He highlighted the critical role of accurate medical data in supporting health planning and enhancing institutional performance. Commending the group's efforts, he noted that their achievements reflect teamwork and a dedication to developing healthcare services in line with national priorities.
Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah reviewed the various procedures employed by the group in documenting and classifying health data, managing health records, and the role of clinical classification and medical coding in improving the accuracy of clinical data. These efforts are aimed at enhancing healthcare services and the quality of patient care. He also received a briefing on initiatives to upgrade electronic systems, improve data quality and privacy, and implement best practices and approved standards in medical coding and health records management.
Dr. Al Jalahma stated that Government Hospitals places strong emphasis on developing services related to clinical classification, medical coding, and health records. Efforts are ongoing to advance digital transformation and health data governance to support patient safety and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services.
