SCH President: Oncology and Palliative Care Conference a boost to medical sector

The first Oncology and Palliative Care Conference, held in Bahrain, is of paramount importance at the regional level, President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa affirmed. He stressed the significance of the event in enriching the medical sector which is witnessing steady growth thanks to the care and support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The SCH President made the statements during his attendance of Bahrain’s first Oncology and Palliative Care Conference which was co-organized by the government hospitals and Education Plus on November 5 and 6, in the presence of Chief Executive of the Government Hospitals, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari and senior officials. Participants from Bahrain and beyond also attended the conference.

Addressing the conference, Lt. General Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stressed Bahrain’s pioneering steps in promoting the advancement of the medical sector which earned it an advanced status, mainly in the oncology and palliative care field and the distinguished treatment provided for citizens and residents in this respect. He underlined the importance of the conference as an opportunity to exchange experiences in this field. He pointed out the kingdom’s numerous gains from organizing medical conferences which have contributed to developing the sector.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Ansari described the conference as an essential milestone to assert Bahrain’s capabilities to host major international medical events. He pointed out the numerous goals sought to be achieved to benefit the medical sector, in light of the large participation of experts and lecturers. He stressed that the government hospitals would continue their efforts to develop the medical sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and provide the best services for citizens and residents. He wished the participants in the conference every success in attaining the desired goals, stressing their remarkable role in developing the medical sector.

At the end of the conference, the SCH President received a commemorative gift from the Chief Executive of Government Hospitals.

The SCH President also honored the keynote speakers at the conference, the organizing committee and the sponsors.
