SCE Hosts Regional Workshop on Biodiversity Monitoring in West Asia

Manama: The Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, is organizing a regional training workshop on biodiversity monitoring and national reporting for West Asian countries from December 21 to 23.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshop is supported by the Global Environment Facility and the United Nations Environment Programme. It brings together representatives from regional countries, government entities, academic institutions, and the private sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with environmental experts. The primary aim is to assist countries in updating and preparing their national biodiversity strategies and action plans, as well as their Seventh National Report, in alignment with the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The workshop also serves as a platform for technical dialogue and the exchange of best practices. It contributes to strengthening institutional and technical capacities, enhancing biodiversity governance, improving coordination among relevant stakeholders, and supporting evidence-based planning, monitoring, and decision-making.
