The Council of Representatives has expressed pride in the pivotal role played by the Bahraini press in enhancing the democratic process and highlighting the kingdom’s civilisational achievements, attained under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s comprehensive development march.
In a statement marking the World Press Freedom Day, observed worldwide on May 3, the Representatives Council lauded the constant support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the freedom of the press in Bahrain, and keenness to protect the rights of journalists and media personnel through developing legislation and laws that regulate such a vital sector.
The Council of Representatives appreciated the great national role played by the Bahraini press to promote the values of society and preserve its cohesion and unity, highlighting the commitment of press institutions and their affiliates to the values and principles of free and responsible journalism based on high professionalism and patriotism.
The Council affirmed its support for everything that would enhance the freedom of the press, protect the rights of journalists, develop the profession and improve the conditions of its affiliates.
