Manama: The State of Qatar has issued a condemnation of the renewed Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the State of Kuwait. These attacks have been described as serious violations of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the affected nations.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement highlighting that these actions constitute a breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of good neighbourliness. The ministry particularly condemned the targeting of power generation and water desalination plants in Kuwait, labeling it a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which demands respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries and prohibits attacks on civilians and vital infrastructure.
The ministry further noted that the ongoing attacks represent an escalation that could complicate efforts to resolve tensions and undermine political and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving regional security and stability. It called for an immediate and comprehensive cessation of all military actions and attacks that threaten regional security and urged all involved parties to avoid further escalation.
The statement concluded with a call for a return to meaningful dialogue and negotiations, emphasizing adherence to understandings achieved through diplomatic efforts.
