Manama: The State of Qatar has issued a strong condemnation of an Iranian attack on two Emirati oil tankers owned by ADNOC as they navigated the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar has labeled the incident a clear violation of international law and maritime freedom, as well as a breach of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.
According to Bahrain News Agency,the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement renewing Qatar's firm rejection of using the Strait of Hormuz as a political tool. The statement emphasized the importance of reopening the strait without preconditions.
The ministry reiterated that the freedom of navigation through this strategic waterway is an inviolable principle. It warned that the sustained closure of the strait jeopardizes both regional and global economic interests.
Furthermore, the ministry called for an end to unwarranted Iranian attacks on Arab assets and expressed Qatar's unwavering solidarity with the United Arab Emirates. Qatar pledged its support for any actions the UAE undertakes to safeguard its assets.
