Primary healthcare centres have launched an enhanced video consultation service at hamad town health centre: The launch was attended by Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the SCH Chairman emphasized that the development of the video consultation service at Primary Healthcare Centres is part of ongoing efforts to improve Bahrain's healthcare system. This initiative leverages modern technology to provide more efficient and sustainable healthcare services, facilitating easier access to healthcare and supporting digital transformation in the health sector.
He noted that the expansion of digital solutions reflects Bahrain's commitment to staying abreast of future healthcare trends, thereby enhancing service quality and healthcare system efficiency.
The Health Minister remarked that the enhancement of video consultation services is a significant addition to the healthcare offerings available to citizens and residents. It allows for medical consultations to be obtained without the necessity of in-person visits when not required, thereby ensuring continuity of care, improving patient experiences, and promoting efficient use of healthcare resources. She further stated that Primary Healthcare Centres will continue to evolve their services and embrace digital solutions that meet community needs and align with rapid advancements in healthcare.
Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive of the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), highlighted that the service development is a crucial step in the digital transformation of Bahrain's healthcare services. This initiative aligns with government priorities outlined in the Government Plan 2023-2026, emphasizing the importance of integration and cooperation among government entities in utilizing digital solutions for national system advancements.
Dr. Ejlal Faisal Al Alawi, CEO of Primary Healthcare Centres, described the service development as a major stride in the digital transformation of primary healthcare services. She underscored that the service will enhance healthcare efficiency and alleviate pressure on health centres by reducing congestion and optimizing resource allocation.
Dr. Al Alawi reiterated the commitment of Primary Healthcare Centres to continually enhance services, placing the patient at the forefront of their priorities. She explained that the service addresses the needs of citizens and residents while keeping pace with global trends in healthcare delivery, ensuring healthcare accessibility and continuity of care.
The video consultation service is part of the "Choose Your Doctor" programme, allowing patients to connect directly via video with their family doctor or care team, thereby strengthening the doctor-patient relationship and improving healthcare quality. Service availability spans all health centres from Sunday to Thursday, during morning and evening hours, depending on appointment availability.
