Health Minister participates in Arab Health Ministers’ Council meeting

Health Minister, Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh, participated in the 55th session of the Arab Health Ministers’ Council and its Executive Bureau, held remotely.

 

The virtual meeting discuss a number of topics on its agenda, including a draft Arab strategy to receive COVID-19 vaccinations and the mechanisms to implement it, in addition to unifying Arab efforts to provide vaccines and ensure fair access to them.

 

The session also discussed exchanging Arab national expertise on COVID-19 response, and the need to prepare for the post-pandemic period.

 

The meeting also focused on a draft Arab strategy for a health supporting budget, and a unified Arab statement at the 74th General Assembly of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

 

The session also discussed the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, in addition to resolution 290 of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism on revitalising tourism and travel in the Arab countries.

Foreign Minister receives credentials copy of Japanese Ambassador-designate

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, received in his office at the Ministry today, Ambassador Miyamoto Masayuki, who presented a copy of his credentials as Ambassador-Designate of Japan to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs commended the friendly relations between the two countries, affirming the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to further develop its ties with Japan to serve both countries and peoples. He also wished the Ambassador success in carrying out his diplomatic duties.

 

Ambassador Masayuki highlighted the growing bilateral ties, expressing his keenness to further strengthen them at all levels. He wished the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people continued progress and prosperity.

 

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Administrative Affairs, Tawfiq Ahmed Al-Mansour, the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Talal Abdul Salam Al-Ansari, and the Acting Director of Protocol and Conventions, Salah Mohammed Shihab.

Foreign Minister receives Chair Holder of UNESCO Chair for Religious Pluralism, Peace at Italy’s University of Bologna

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, received at the Ministry today, the Chair Holder of the UNESCO Chair on Religious Pluralism and Peace at the University of Bologna, Professor Alberto Melloni.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs lauded the relations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the friendly Italian Republic, noting their development at various levels.

 

He commended the efforts of the University of Bologna in supporting studies that deal with issues of religious pluralism and peace, noting the importance of strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between the competent authorities to promote the values of religious freedoms, tolerance, coexistence and respect for the other. In this regard, he affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in light of the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to consolidate these principles internationally.

 

Professor Melloni commended the Kingdom’s efforts in enhancing the principles of tolerance and religious pluralism, noting its achievements in the field of promoting peaceful coexistence and highlighting the values of peace and tolerance. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.

 

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Paula Amadi, the Head of the Human Rights Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arwa Hasan Al-Sayed, and Head of the European Affairs Sector, Ahmed Al-Qurainis.

Three restaurants closed for violating mandatory health measures

The Public Health Directorate at the Health Ministry has said that its inspection campaigns to all sectors will continue in order to ensure full compliance with the precautionary measures to combat the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

 

The directorate carried out 139 inspection visits to restaurants and cafes on Friday, May 21, in coordination with Interior Ministry and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

 

The directorate found that 35 restaurants had violated the mandatory health measures recommended by the Ministry of Health and decided to close three restaurants for one week.

 

The violating outlets allowed the entry of persons below the age of 18 and unvaccinated ones. There were also individuals without the vaccination certificates on the BeAware application. Moreover, sanitisers and temperature metres were not available.

 

The restaurants which violated the provisions of ministerial edict 51/2020 were closed for one week, while cafés and restaurants with minor violations were requested to rectify them immediately.

 

The Ministry of Health affirmed that it will intensify its field visits, along with other relevant authorities, to curb the spread of the pandemic and protect public health.

Foreign Ministry Undersecretary receives IISS-Middle East Executive Director

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Administrative Affairs, Ambassador Tawfiq Ahmed Al-Mansour, received in his office at the ministry today, the Executive Director of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in the Middle East (IISS-Middle East), Sir Tom Beckett, in the presence of Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Talal Abdul Salam Al-Ansari.

 

The Undersecretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs praised the prominent role played by the IISS in organising conferences and forums, in addition to publishing political studies and research. He affirmed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the institute to achieve common interests.

 

For his part, Sir Tom Beckett praised effective cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IISS, stressing the need to further develop it to achieve common goals. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.

Foreign Ministry’s Political Affairs Undersecretary affirms Bahrain’s support for Palestinian people’s rights

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, met at the Ministry today the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Taha Muhammad Abdul Qadir.

 

Dr. Shaikh Abdullah affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm support to the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, praising the Arab and international efforts that contributed to the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, paving the way to restore security and resolve the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. He called on the international community to shoulder its humanitarian and moral responsibilities to protect and empower the Palestinian people and to intensify efforts aimed at promoting comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East region for the benefit of all people.

 

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine valued the active and continuous efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to support the Palestinian cause at all levels and in all international forums, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
