Manama: The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has launched its 13th annual report for 2025 during a press conference at its headquarters. The report highlights key findings, human rights content, and detailed activities undertaken by the institution to protect and promote human rights in Bahrain, alongside key recommendations for improving the human rights framework.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, Chairman of the NIHR, reviewed the report's main areas, objectives, and activities carried out in 2025. These included handling complaints, providing legal assistance, conducting field visits, and monitoring issues related to human rights. The institution also enhanced cooperation with various entities and participated in regional and international events.
Al Derazi emphasized that the annual report serves as a tool for monitoring, evaluation, and development, showcasing the institution's commitment to independently advancing Bahrain's human rights framework. He expressed gratitude to partner entities, the press, and media for their support in promoting human rights awareness.
Dr. Maha Al Shehab, Child Rights Commissioner, highlighted the section on children's rights, detailing issues monitored, key findings, and efforts to strengthen child protection and uphold children's rights in the Kingdom.
Dr. Malallah Al Hammadi, Vice Chairman of the NIHR, presented recommendations aimed at supporting legislation, policies, and practices related to human rights. Dr. Al Hammadi also stressed the institution's commitment to coordinating with relevant authorities to implement these recommendations.
The 13th annual report underscores NIHR's dedication to its mandate under its establishing law and the Paris Principles, bolstering its role in protecting and promoting human rights and fostering a culture of human rights in Bahrain.
