Manama: Maryam Al Ansari, Undersecretary for National Economy at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, stated that Bahrain's economy has experienced significant growth over the past two decades. This growth is seen as a key national achievement within the broader development framework of the Kingdom, guided by the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, official figures indicate that the economy has expanded more than fivefold since 2000. The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose from approximately USD 9 billion to over USD 47 billion by the end of 2024, demonstrating consistent progress across various productive and service sectors.
Al Ansari also highlighted an improvement in citizens' incomes, with average monthly wages for Bahrainis in both the public and private sectors nearly doubling between 2005 and 2024. This growth reflects the impact of policies focused on empowering Bahrainis, enhancing their competitiveness, and prioritizing them in employment and entrepreneurship.
She further stated that the ongoing cooperation between the public and private sectors is expected to continue strengthening the national economy on sustainable foundations. This collaboration aims to stimulate economic activity and translate growth into higher wages and broader development opportunities.
